Established in 1876, the Glenwood Fire Department has a long, rich history of providing Fire and EMS services to the citizens of Glenwood and Mills County. The Glenwood Fire Association has grown and evolved into paid 24/7 ALS EMS service and a highly progressive and aggressive volunteer fire service with a Class 4 ISO rating that responds to approximately 2,000 calls annually. The fire department provides a variety of response capabilities including:

- Rope/Confined Space Rescue
- Grain Bin Rescue
- Ice/Swift-water Rescue
- Hazardous Materials Response

Resolution #3590 – Resolution Regarding Volunteer Fire Department Charges
Effective March 2, 2022
A Resolution establishing rates & charges for services rendered by the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department or Glenwood Volunteer Associations.
WHEREAS Section 35.17 of the Glenwood code of Ordinances provides that the Glenwood Fire Department shall provide billing statements or charges for services rendered by the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department or Glenwood Volunteer Fire Association and that such charges shall be established by resolution of the Glenwood City Council; and WHEREAS The Glenwood City Council desires to adopt the following rates & charges in accord with Section 35.17 of the Glenwood Code of Ordinances;
IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENWOOD, IOWA AS FOLLOWS:
Fees, rates & charges for services rendered by the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department shall be set & established by the Glenwood Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief using the factors set forth in Section 35.17 of the City Code of Ordinances, but shall not exceed the following sums:
Vehicle Fires – Not to exceed $500.00
Grass Fires – Not to exceed $300.00
Structure Fires – Not to exceed $500.00
Rescue Calls & Extrication – Not to exceed $1000.00
Commercial Fires – Not to exceed $5000.00
Propane/Fuel Tank – Not to exceed $25.00 each
Hazardous Material Response – Per Iowa Fire Service
Gas Line Response Fee – up to $2000.00
Fire Reports – up to $10.00
Confined Space Rescue – up to $4500.00
Burn Permits – up to $35.00
Fire Extinguisher Classes – $10.00 per person
Safety Classes – up to $500.00
False Alarm Fee
Fire Alarms Systems, which are monitored, may be assessed a fee for false alarms, which occur during any consecutive 12-month period as follows:
1st Alarm – No Charge
2-4 Alarms – $75.00
5 & above – $150.00
